Welcome!

Hi All,

Ever since the sad news about Jim's passing started to spread I have received many mails and messages from our old mutual friends and also from Jim's colleagues I have never met in my life. It is fanstastic to see how much he was loved and respected!

A lot of you shared with me their fond memories and funny stories from the past and I think that some of you might want to share them with other Jim's friends as well. If you want to, please, go ahead! :-)

I also have two gifts for you:
Here you will find a small compliation of Jim's photos with a bit of background music (for which I DO appologize). Shame I am not as good at music as Jim was. I am sure one could pick much more suited clips. Oh, well...it is not done professionally but I am sure you will forgive me. My computer literacy has its limits :-)

The content is the same, just different size:
smaller version (13MB): http://www.chytrepleteni.cz/Jim09/Jim_Small.wmv

bigger version (60 MB):
http://www.chytrepleteni.cz/Jim09/Jim_big.wmv

Both should open/play in a standard Window Media Player.

And for real connoisseurs a have a rare treat!
Here is Jim reading (and playing all the caracters) several bits from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Laugh and enjoy!

Sorry about the technical quality - it is home recording, transferred from the old audio cassettes to the PC. Thanks to all my friends who were patient enough to teach me how to do it and answer all my panicky questions during the process :-)

  1. Dear Zuzka

Many thanks for the photo compilation, which I've just finished watching. Really great to see Jim in all his guises. A very sweet guy and we'll all miss him.

  2. A great photo compilation, Zuzka. You have captured so many aspects of Jim's life there. One missing element - his lifelong support for the Dale (Rochdale FC), which I regarded as worthy of great respect. I remember on one occasion while walking to U Cerneho Vola one wet Saturday evening, Jim glancing at his watch, producing a transistor radio from his bag and tuning into a crackly BBC World to check the Dale score. The news of their victory at Hartlepool or somewhere similar put him in a particularly good mood for the whole evening.

  3. Hi Tim,
yes, you are right, the football element of Jim's life is missing a bit (and his fondness of railways!) Unfortunately there were no appropriate photos, although I could have made a photo of his collection of old Rochdale footbal programs :-)
